Everyone starts on Free. You pick a paid plan later in Settings, Plan & usage.
Automatic runs are add-on runs and scheduled automations. Syncing your connected apps doesn't count.
The short version
- Who counts as an active member?
- Someone who created or edited something that month: a task, a doc, a decision, a comment or a file. You see exactly who counted on your Plan & usage page.
- Who is always free?
- People who only look, guests and clients. Invite as many as you like on every plan, Free included.
- What happens at a limit?
- Nothing locks and nobody is shut out. Only that one thing pauses: new uploads when storage is full, or automatic runs until next month. No surprise charges.
- How does AI work?
- Paid plans include AI credit every month for each active member. It's used first and starts again on the 1st. After that, AI is pay as you go from a prepaid balance you top up. On Free, each person gets a one-time $2 trial.
Questions people ask
What if Free has more than 3 active members?
Nothing is locked and everyone keeps working. Owners see a note, and inviting more people who edit waits until you move to Team. You can still invite viewers and guests.
How does monthly billing work?
At the end of each month we bill $9 for each person who was active that month. If someone was on holiday and didn't edit anything, you don't pay for them.
How does yearly billing work?
You pay for your active members up front for the year, at $84 each on Team or $72 each on Business. If more people become active, we add them each quarter for the rest of the year. At renewal we count again.
Is it one price for all our workspaces?
Yes. The plan belongs to your company and covers all its workspaces. Someone active in two workspaces counts once.
Can we download our history of changes on Free or Team?
You can read the full history in the app on every plan. Downloading it as a file comes with Business and Enterprise. Exporting your work itself is always free.
Can we leave any time?
Yes. Stop paying from Settings, Plan & usage and you move to Free at the end of the period. Nothing is deleted, and you can always export your work.
Do you charge for connected apps or syncing?
No. Syncing GitHub, Slack, Google Drive and your other apps is free and never counts as an automatic run.
